Sorry but I've never thought NYC were anything special, just a big fat blob of yeast Personally I think there's nothing like a fresh montreal style bagel, has to be fresh though because it goes stale fast |

Jeez even I'll defend NYC on this one. I've had great pizza in plenty of other places, but never a good bagel. |

I remember I went camping upstate and we were looking for breakfast one morning. All these people raved about this one place having great bagels. We went and it was clearly a packaged bagel. The only thing I could think was that these people never had a good bagel, so this was the best they had, and they really thought it was good. That being said, bagels are hit or miss in NYC too. |

I also find our bagels better. I buy a coupla dozen at Fairmount bagels in Montreal, slice them, and freeze them. |
